undermount
Attached from underneath
Undermount describes a style of installation where something is attached from below a surface rather than sitting on top of it or dropping into it.
Most commonly used for kitchen and bathroom sinks: an undermount sink attaches beneath the countertop, creating a seamless edge where the counter material meets the basin.
We chose an undermount sink to make cleaning the counters easier.
The style also applies to drawer slides and other hardware mounted underneath rather than on the sides.
