womb
Where life begins
The womb is the organ in female mammals where offspring develop before birth—the uterus.
Figuratively, womb suggests any place of origin or nurturing enclosure: the womb of civilization, safe in the womb of the earth.
To return to the womb is to seek comfort and protection from the outside world.
