witcher
Supernatural creature hunter
A witcher is a monster hunter in the fantasy universe created by Polish author Andrzej Sapkowski, popularized globally through video games and a Netflix series.
Witchers are humans mutated through alchemical processes to gain supernatural abilities—enhanced reflexes, resistance to disease, and magic—used to hunt creatures for pay.
The term has become shorthand for morally ambiguous mercenary heroes: He's giving witcher energy—brooding loner who kills monsters for coin.
