wheatberries

Unprocessed cereal seeds

Wheatberries are whole wheat kernels with only the inedible outer husk removed—the bran, germ, and endosperm intact.

They're chewy and nutty when cooked, used in salads, soups, and grain bowls: I added wheatberries to the kale salad for texture.

Also spelled as two words: wheat berries.
