uvea

Vascular eye layer

The uvea is the middle layer of the eye, comprising the iris, ciliary body, and choroid.

These pigmented structures control light entry, adjust focus, and supply blood to the retina.

Inflammation of the uvea—uveitis—can cause redness, pain, and vision problems: The doctor diagnosed anterior uveitis affecting the iris.
