eumelanin
Brown-black skin pigment
Eumelanin is the brown-black pigment responsible for dark hair, skin, and eye color in humans and other animals.
It's the most common type of melanin, providing protection against ultraviolet radiation.
People with more eumelanin have darker coloring; those with less have lighter skin and hair.
Her dark brown eyes reflected high eumelanin levels.
