miosis

Eye opening narrows

Miosis is the constriction of the pupil of the eye.

It occurs naturally in bright light and during sleep, or as a response to certain drugs, particularly opioids.

The opposite condition, dilation, is called mydriasis.

The doctor noted miosis in both eyes.
