tonometry

Measuring intraocular pressure

Tonometry is the measurement of pressure inside the eye, used primarily to screen for glaucoma.

An ophthalmologist or optometrist performs tonometry by applying gentle pressure to the cornea with a specialized instrument called a tonometer: The tonometry reading was elevated, so they scheduled a follow-up exam.
