unhooking
Freeing from fastener
Unhooking is the act of detaching something from a hook or similar fastener: She was unhooking her bra when the phone rang.
The word applies to any releasing of a hooked connection—unhooking a trailer from a vehicle, unhooking a fish from a line, or unhooking a latch.
Figuratively, to unhook from something is to disengage or disconnect: He's been unhooking from social media lately.
