marionette
Cross-bar-controlled doll
A marionette is a puppet controlled by strings or wires attached to its limbs and head, manipulated from above by a puppeteer.
The term distinguishes string puppets from hand puppets or rod puppets.
Figuratively, a marionette is someone whose actions are controlled by another: He was just a marionette dancing to the CEO's tune.
