tulipmania
Dutch speculative frenzy
Tulipmania refers to the speculative frenzy in 17th-century Holland when tulip bulb prices soared to extraordinary heights before collapsing.
The term now describes any speculative bubble driven by irrational exuberance rather than underlying value: Critics called the cryptocurrency surge tulipmania 2.0.
Also spelled tulip mania.
