egomania
Extreme self-centeredness
Egomania is obsessive preoccupation with oneself—an extreme, pathological form of self-centeredness.
Unlike ordinary egotism, egomania suggests a compulsive quality, an inability to see beyond one's own importance: His egomania made collaboration impossible.
The term is used loosely for anyone excessively self-absorbed, though psychiatry reserves it for more severe conditions.
