storm troopers
Elite assault infantry
Storm troopers were originally members of the SA (Sturmabteilung), the Nazi Party's paramilitary wing in Germany before and during World War II—brownshirted thugs who intimidated political opponents through violence.
The term now applies more broadly to shock troops or aggressive enforcers of any regime or cause, often with fascist overtones: The governor's storm troopers shut down the protest.
In the Star Wars universe, stormtroopers are the white-armored soldiers of the Galactic Empire.
