triplication

Creating three copies

Triplication is the act of making three copies or versions of something, or the state of being tripled.

In genetics, it refers to a chromosomal mutation where a segment of DNA appears three times instead of the normal two: The triplication of this gene region is associated with certain developmental disorders.

More generally, it describes any threefold repetition or multiplication.
