trendline
Graph's guiding slope
A trendline is a line on a graph showing the general direction of data points over time, smoothing out fluctuations to reveal underlying patterns.
In technical analysis of stock prices, trendlines connect highs or lows to identify support and resistance levels: The stock broke through its trendline, signaling a reversal.
More loosely, trendline describes any trajectory of change: The trendline for remote work continues upward.
