trendlines

Chart's directional guides

Trendlines are lines drawn on charts to show the general direction of data over time.

In technical analysis of stocks, a trendline connects price points to reveal upward, downward, or sideways movement: The stock broke below its trendline, signaling a sell-off.

More broadly, trendlines represent any pattern of change: Trendlines for remote work show lasting shifts in employment.
