transshipping

Intermediate freight forwarding

Transshipping is transferring cargo from one vessel or vehicle to another during transit, typically at an intermediate port or hub: The containers were transshipped in Singapore before continuing to Europe.

The practice allows goods to reach destinations not served by direct routes.

Transshipping can also obscure a shipment's origin—sometimes used to evade tariffs or sanctions by routing goods through third countries.
