transperson
Cross-gender identity holder
A transperson is someone whose gender identity differs from the sex they were assigned at birth—a shortened form of transgender person.
The term is sometimes written as two words (trans person) and appears in compounds like transman and transwoman.
While widely used, some prefer the two-word form to emphasize that trans is an adjective modifying person rather than a distinct category of person.
As a transperson, she found community through online support groups.
