townscapes
Views of settlements
Townscapes are visual representations or views of urban areas, emphasizing the architectural and spatial character of towns and cities.
The term parallels landscape but focuses on built environments rather than natural ones.
Townscapes may be depicted in paintings, photographs, or urban planning documents, capturing the arrangement of buildings, streets, and public spaces that give a place its distinctive character.
The gallery featured Dutch townscapes from the Golden Age.
