riverscapes
Flowing water scenes
Riverscapes are landscapes dominated by rivers and their associated features—floodplains, banks, tributaries, and the vegetation along them.
The term parallels landscape and seascape, focusing attention on rivers as central visual and ecological elements: The painter specialized in riverscapes of the Hudson Valley.
In environmental science, riverscapes often refers to the study of river systems as interconnected habitats.
