tomographs

Cross-sectional imaging devices

Tomographs are images produced by tomography—a technique that creates cross-sectional pictures of internal structures by passing waves (usually X-rays) through an object from multiple angles.

The term also refers to the machines that produce such images.

CT scans and PET scans are common types: The tomographs revealed a small tumor in the left lung.
