theatrical cut
Standard cinema version
The theatrical cut is the version of a film released to cinemas, as opposed to later home video releases that may restore deleted scenes or alter content.
Directors sometimes prefer longer cuts, but theatrical releases are typically trimmed for runtime or rating requirements.
The theatrical cut was twenty minutes shorter than the director's cut.
