color grading
Film tone correction
Color grading is the process of adjusting the colors, contrast, and overall look of film or video footage.
It goes beyond basic color correction to establish mood and visual style: The color grading gave the film its distinctive blue-green tint.
A colorist performs this work, manipulating shadows, highlights, and saturation to achieve a director's vision.
The same raw footage can feel warm and nostalgic or cold and clinical depending on how it's graded.
