alternate ending
Story's other finish
An alternate ending is a different conclusion to a story than the one originally released or intended.
Films on home video often include alternate endings as bonus features, showing how the story might have resolved differently.
The term implies a version that was seriously considered but ultimately rejected: The alternate ending had the hero dying instead of surviving.
