fan edit
Unofficial alternate version
A fan edit is an unofficial version of a film, television episode, or other media that has been re-edited by a fan rather than the original creators.
Fan edits typically alter pacing, remove scenes, restore deleted footage, or reimagine the work entirely: The fan edit cuts the prequels into a single coherent film.
The practice exists in legal gray areas around copyright but thrives in online communities where enthusiasts share their alternative visions of beloved properties.
