tasers
Electroshock law enforcement
Tasers are handheld electroshock weapons that fire barbed darts connected by wires, delivering an electric current that temporarily incapacitates the target through neuromuscular disruption.
Originally a brand name now used generically, tasers are standard equipment for many police forces as a less-lethal alternative to firearms: The officer drew his taser when the suspect refused to comply.
To taser someone is to shock them with one.
