stun gun

Handheld shock device

A stun gun is a handheld weapon that delivers an electric shock to incapacitate a person temporarily.

Unlike a Taser, which fires projectile darts, a stun gun requires direct contact with the target: She carried a stun gun for self-defense.

The shock causes pain and muscle contractions but is usually nonlethal.
