takoyaki
Osaka street snack
Takoyaki are Japanese street food—small round dumplings made from a wheat batter and cooked in specially molded pans.
Each ball contains a piece of octopus (tako), along with pickled ginger, green onion, and tempura scraps.
They're typically topped with savory sauce, mayonnaise, bonito flakes, and seaweed: We grabbed some takoyaki from a food stall in Osaka.
