take leave
Exit the scene
To take leave is to depart or say goodbye, often formally: We took leave of our hosts after dinner.
The phrase also means to obtain permission to be absent, especially from work or military duty: She took leave to care for her father.
To take leave of one's senses is to act irrationally or lose one's mind.
