Workflow diagram division
A swimlane is a horizontal or vertical band in a diagram that groups related activities or responsibilities together.
In project management and process flowcharts, swimlanes visually separate tasks by department, team, or individual: The swimlane diagram shows which steps belong to engineering versus marketing.
The term comes from the lanes in a swimming pool.
