collective responsibility
Group bears consequences
Collective responsibility is the principle that all members of a group share accountability for the group's decisions or actions, even if they personally disagreed.
In parliamentary systems, cabinet ministers must publicly support government policy or resign: The doctrine of collective responsibility keeps internal debates private.
The term also describes shared moral accountability for group outcomes: We all bear collective responsibility for the climate crisis.
