dishes

Eating vessels and utensils

Dishes are plates, bowls, cups, and other containers used for serving and eating food.

The term often refers specifically to dirty tableware needing washing: Whose turn is it to do the dishes?

A dish is also a prepared food item: a traditional Mexican dish.

To dish is to serve food or, informally, to gossip: She's always dishing about her coworkers.
