sunfishes
Freshwater pond swimmers
Sunfishes are freshwater fish of the family Centrarchidae, native to North America.
The group includes bass, bluegill, and crappie—popular targets for recreational fishing.
Separately, the ocean sunfish (family Molidae) is a massive, disc-shaped marine fish that basks at the surface: We spotted a sunfish while sailing.
