successions
Series following another
Successions are sequences of things following one after another: a succession of bad decisions, three successions of crops in a single growing season.
The word often refers to the transfer of power, title, or property from one holder to the next: The king's death triggered a war of succession.
In ecology, succession describes the gradual replacement of one community of species by another.
