spliced

Merged at ends

Spliced is the past tense and past participle of splice, meaning to join two things together by interweaving or overlapping their ends.

The term originated with rope and cable work, where fibers are woven together to create a continuous length, and extended to film editing, where strips of celluloid were physically cut and joined.

In genetics, genes are spliced when segments of DNA are combined.

Informally, to get spliced means to get married.
