spec
Project design document
Spec is short for specification—a detailed description of requirements, materials, or standards.
In technical fields, specs define exactly how something should be built or function: The engineer reviewed the specs before manufacturing began.
To build something on spec (short for speculation) means creating it without a guaranteed buyer, hoping to sell later: He wrote the screenplay on spec.
