bylaw

Internal organization regulation

A bylaw is a rule governing the internal affairs of an organization—a corporation, club, or homeowners' association.

Bylaws cover procedures like voting, meetings, and officer duties: The bylaws require a two-thirds majority to amend the constitution.

In some contexts, especially British usage, bylaw also means a local ordinance or regulation enacted by a municipality.
