space invader
Pixelated descending alien
Space invader refers to someone who stands too close or encroaches on another's personal space: Back off, space invader.
The term comes from the 1978 arcade game *Space Invaders*, where players shoot descending alien attackers.
The game title is sometimes used generically for early video games or their distinctive pixelated alien imagery.
