earthling

Resident of here

Earthling means an inhabitant of Earth—a human being.

The word appears almost exclusively in science fiction contexts, where it distinguishes humans from extraterrestrials: The aliens demanded to speak with the earthlings' leader.

Outside fiction, earthling sounds deliberately playful or ironic, adopting an outsider's perspective on humanity.
