fire button
Weapon activation switch
The fire button is the control on a video game controller, joystick, or arcade cabinet that triggers the primary action—typically shooting a weapon or launching a projectile.
In early gaming, cabinets had a single fire button; modern controllers have multiple buttons serving this function.
The term persists even when the action isn't literally firing: Mash the fire button to attack.
