soliloquies
Theatrical inner musings
Soliloquies is the plural of soliloquy—a speech delivered by a character alone on stage, revealing inner thoughts to the audience.
The device appears throughout drama, most famously in Shakespeare: Hamlet's soliloquies explore his paralysis and despair.
Extended to any instance of talking to oneself or thinking aloud: Her late-night soliloquies helped her work through problems.
