Prospero
Island-ruling magician
Prospero is the exiled duke and magician at the center of Shakespeare's *The Tempest*, who conjures storms and spirits from his island domain.
The name evokes mastery over supernatural forces, scholarly sorcery, and eventual renunciation of power.
It derives from the Latin for "prosperous" or "fortunate." He fancied himself a Prospero, orchestrating events from behind the scenes.
