soliloquizing

Talking to yourself

Soliloquizing is speaking one's thoughts aloud, especially when alone or unaware of listeners.

The term comes from theater, where a soliloquy lets the audience hear a character's inner thoughts: He stood at the window, soliloquizing about his failures.

Outside drama, it often suggests someone talking to themselves or thinking out loud.
