solidus
Fraction bar symbol
A solidus is the forward slash character (/), used to separate alternatives (and/or), indicate fractions (3/4), or mark line breaks in quoted poetry.
The term appears mainly in typography and publishing; most people just call it a slash.
Historically, a solidus was also a Roman gold coin, which is why the British shilling abbreviation was "s" with a slash through it.
