dinar

Iraqi monetary unit

A dinar is the basic monetary unit of several countries, mostly in the Middle East and North Africa—including Iraq, Jordan, Kuwait, Libya, Tunisia, and Serbia.

The word derives from the Roman denarius.

Values vary enormously: the Kuwaiti dinar is among the world's strongest currencies, while the Iraqi dinar trades at thousands to the dollar.
