soccer goal
Match-winning kick destination
A soccer goal is the rectangular frame with netting that players aim to put the ball through, or the act of scoring by doing so.
The structure consists of two upright posts and a crossbar.
When someone scores, that's also a goal: She scored three goals in the first half.
The term distinguishes from goals in other sports, though in context, goal alone usually suffices.
