penalty save
Spot kick stopped
A penalty save is when a goalkeeper stops a penalty kick, one of the most dramatic moments in soccer.
Because penalties are taken from just twelve yards out with only the keeper to beat, the odds heavily favor the shooter—making a save a significant achievement that can shift momentum or decide matches.
Keepers who excel at penalty saves study opponents' tendencies and commit to a direction just before the kick.
The goalkeeper's penalty save in the shootout sent the home crowd into delirium.
