snow geese
White northern waterfowl
Snow geese are medium-sized North American geese, white with black wingtips, that migrate in enormous flocks.
They breed in Arctic tundra and winter in warmer regions, often seen in wetlands and agricultural fields.
Their massed formations create spectacular aerial displays: The sky darkened with snow geese.
Some have bluish-gray plumage and were once considered a separate species called blue geese.
