beluga whales
White polar dolphins
Beluga whales are small, white Arctic whales known for their rounded foreheads and lack of dorsal fin.
They're highly social and unusually vocal for cetaceans, sometimes called "sea canaries." The beluga's flexibility—it can turn its head, unlike most whales—and its expressive face make it a popular aquarium species.
We watched belugas swimming along the ice edge.
