A snippet is a small piece or fragment cut or clipped from something larger.
The word often describes brief excerpts of text, code, audio, or video: a snippet of conversation, code snippets you can copy and paste.
A snippet of information is a small bit, possibly incomplete: I caught only a snippet of what she said.
